A Closer Look

Here's a closer look at the images used to create collage in my previous post.  Some in these series turned out so well, they would make great holiday cards on their own!

I love it when I have the opportunity to work with such playful clients.  That's when I'm able to capture unprompted laughs like this...

The day was perfect as well, a little on the chilly side but sunny.  I couldn't resist capturing the light.  There's nothing like a little sun flare to add magic to a photograph!

Holiday Card Inspiration

It's that time of year again.  I'm busy taking family photos, all of which are most likely being used for holiday photo cards.  I thought I'd share a collage idea as inspiration for your holiday cards this year.

Ix-nay on the Hoto-Pay Ontest-Cay

Due to lack of interest (aka too many folks enjoying the 4th at the lake, beach, pool), I'm postponing the photo contest until the end of the month.

I'm off to photograph two weddings over the next two weekends, one being down on the coast of SC.  With those obligations, I'll be taking a break from blogging and Facebook over the next two-three weeks to focus on my clients.  My main goal is to always give customers the highest quality photo sessions first.  The blog, Facebook & website always take a back seat to that.

Use the next couple weeks to see what images you might want to include in the photo contest, and we'll pick it back up at the end of the month!

By the way, the Dog Bless You Campaign was able to donate 17 dogs to soldiers!  If you were able to check that out and clicked "like", kudos for your contribution to such a great program.

Need Inspiration?

Snapped this one yesterday on a walk through downtown Annapolis.  See dog.  See dog look.  Snap dog pic.  It's easy!  Here's another I snapped a few hours later...

Here's an example of how you don't even need to include a real dog, it just has to represent a furry friend!

Snap a pic, or dig through your old digital files, and to enter an image that represents the dog days of summer, canine included.  Upload your image to Eiden Photography's Facebook wall and you'll be entered in the summer photo contest going on now!  Be sure to check out details regarding the Dog Bless You campaign as well!

Click here for full contest details.

Stay tuned for even more inspiration to post throughout the day.

Don't Miss Out!

This year's summer photo contest is going on now!  Don't miss the chance to enter your favorite image.  Simply post a picture of a dog onto the Eiden Photography Facebook Wall.  It's that simple!  Read on below for full details!

Summer Photo Contest Announced

(via)

Sometimes things just fall into place.  Today is one of those days.  Here's why.   For months now, I've known I wanted to include furry four-legged canine friends into the Eiden Photography summer photo contest this year.  I found the prize gift months ago and have been holding out on running the contest for timing sake.  As you know, from my last post, a favorite canine client just passed away this week.  Earlier today, some Facebook fans reminded me (again), my summer photo contest is a little overdue.  So I knew I wanted to run a contest, I knew I wanted to do it around the 4th, I knew I wanted a "man's best friend" theme, BUT, I didn't want to run a contest just for the sake of a contest.  And then I saw the poster shown above. Instantly, it all came together.  So, wait no longer, read on for details.

Rules & Guidelines:

1.  Anyone can enter.

2. You can only enter one photo.  If you didn't take the photo, give credit where credit is due.  You must have permission from the photographer to enter a photo on their behalf.

3.  A dog has to be in the photo, but it does not have to be your dog.

4.  The photo needs to be a "summertime" shot, no dogs in the snow please.  I encourage you to include photos with a patriotic feel to them, although it is not required.

5.  Enter your photo by posting your jpg on the Eiden Photography Facebook Wall, then share the "Dog Bless You" link on your own personal wall.

6.  You have until next Monday, July 4th to upload your images. I will post a few of my favorite canines to help inspire you as well (not included in contest).  The winner and prize will be announced on Tuesday, July 5th.

I am hoping Paulie's family will accept my request to be the judges of this contest and choose a winner in honor of Paulie. (Read here for the back story)  In addition, Eiden Photography will match every photo entry submitted to the contest with a $1 donation to explore.org in support of their Dog Bless You campaign. Start telling your friends and let's see how much we can do! This is a wonderful drive that aims to team up service and companion dogs with veterans suffering from PTSD.  You can read more about how dogs can help soldiers here.  For another way to contribute, head on over to the Dog Bless You on Facebook, and click "like".  For every 5000 likes, a service dog will be donated to a soldier.  The Facebook drive only lasts through Monday, July 4th, so go click now!

I can't think of a better way to enjoy summer, celebrate the 4th patriotically, and pay tribute to one of my favorite clients, can you!?  So, on your mark, set, UPLOAD!!!
