One year ago, I had the opportunity of photographing this couple on their one year anniversary. It was a wonderful celebration of starting their life together as a married couple, and a tribute to making it through the honeymoon year. They put back on their wedding best, clipped some flowers from the front gardens, grabbed a wrap to ward off the November chill, and walked down to the James River. They grabbed a bottle of champagne received as a wedding gift, the toasting flutes used at their wedding, and a couple of chairs. Then, they kicked back, relaxed, and said "Cheers to Year One"! I was honored to be witness to such a beautiful celebration of love, and thankful they let me use them as models all over Richmond! We were able to capture so many beautiful images, and I plan to share them all...including the now infamous "blue wall couple" shot featured on my website. Watch for these guys to reappear again and again in future posts!

I'm so jealous that they have these beautiful scenery of the James River within walking distance of their house. Walking the dog is so much more fun when this is your view! |

It was beautiful how casual and carefree it was to grab flowers right from the front yard. A friend came over to help Monika with her hair, she did her own make-up and she was just beautiful. This was just a photo session, but we kept saying what a beautiful and stress-free wedding the setting would have made! |

Yes, they let me have a sip and we snapped some pretty funny images. But, I'll have to save those for a future "How I, as the photographer, sometimes end up in the shot" blog post...a blooper/funny outtakes post, for sure! |
Happy 2nd Anniversary, Joe & Monika! May all your future years together be as wonderful!
You're the best!! Thank you for these...they are a treasure. I could do it again, I still haven't had my dress cleaned! xoxo
